Your hair is not really blonde? This is true for 95 percent of all people. For example, on average, one third of all German women are blonde but nature has given only very few of them blonde hair. All but these few women have spirited the natural pigments out of their hair. Among the colour treatments, bleaching is still number one on the list.
Bleaching must be done carefully and with a good sense of colour knowledge. Even brunettes can change from brown to blonde hair, and our tips will help to do just that — properly and ideally without damage.
Hair bleaching tips
You want to dye your hair blonde but definitely want it to look natural? Then you should never lighten your hair by more than two shades. Also consider the color of your eyebrows. Your hair color will look artificial if the color difference between your hair and your eyebrows is huge.
Especially when bleaching hair at home, be very careful when coloring already bleached hair. The altered hair structure may lead to surprising colorations. The hair color may for example appear more intense than advertised on the package or more color pigments may penetrate the hair and make it darker than intended.
Do the rays of the sun give your hair a reddish shimmer? In this case the red pigments must be removed from the hair. Otherwise, they may give your light blond hair a yellow tinge. Special new blonde color treatments have been developed for originally reddish hair. They help to neutralize the unwanted yellow tinge.
Are you blonde already and would like your hair to be just a bit lighter? Bleaching hair spray may be the ideal solution for you. These lighten your hair by about one quarter shade per application. Sunlight and the hot air of the blow-dryer will intensify the effect.
Bold brunettes can use a strong bleaching solution at home to color their hair blonde – it may lighten the hair color by up to eight shades. It is important not to leave the bleaching solution in your hair for more than 45 minutes.
Do you abhor visible roots and don’t want to commit to frequent bleaching? Then the ‘blonette’ trend worn by Jennifer Aniston is a good choice for you. Your hair stylist will add highlights to your brown hair to give your hair color the desired flow of natural shading.
